Hungary
The four lions guarding the Szechenyi Bridge in Budapest, according to urban legend, were sculpted with exceptional detail… they had everything except tongues. Legends claimed that the sculptor was so embarrassed at this revelation that he immediately jumped from the bridge. Happily, the story was entirely inaccurate. Both the lions’ tongues and the sculptor remained intact after the bridge’s inauguration in 1849.
